Association for General & Liberal Studies (AGLS) September 23-26, 2015 Milwaukee, WI

First, Milwaukee is a very cool town.  Well, in September. Am told it cools down an awful lot in the winter months. And they have a good sense of humor about things.

Primary reason for attendance was to present with the JMU General Education Cluster Coordinators (Skip Hyser, Georgia Polacek, and Gretchen Hazard).  Our presentation was, Rewarding and Showcasing Excellence in General Education:  Out of the Classroom and into the Spotlight" which reporting on the success and growth of the JMU General Education Student Conference, Banquet and awards ceremony.

I spent a lot of this particular conference attending sessions related to changing and evolving the liberal education core curriculum, as that was a discussion on our campus at the time, but also to see how other schools were tackling what looked like a wholesale updating of university cores.  But we also did a fair bit of eating.
